Something that you are 'involved in' is something that you do or participate in regularly. Notice the following:

1. He is very involved with the music programs at his school.
   
2. She first got involved with volunteer work when she was in middle school.

When you say that you are 'not the rule,' it means that most people think or act differently from you. Notice the following:

1. We love spicy food, but are definitely not the rule in this area.

In the past soccer was like a social activity.

A 'social activity' is something that you do for fun where you can be around other people. Notice the following:

1. We were involved in some of the same social activities when we were in school.
   
2. She was never very serious about volleyball. It was like a social activity, because all her friends were in it.
